Meet The Sheriff

Greetings. I’m Sheriff David Harper.

I would like to personally thank the citizens of Madison County for allowing me to serve you and your family and entrusting me with the law enforcement oversight of our county and communities.

I was born and raised in Madison County and Madison County is my home. In 2003 I married my high school sweetheart, Jennifer, and together we are proudly raising our two sons, Brett and Blayne. I have dedicated nearly my entire adult life to serving the people of Madison County as a committed law enforcement officer. As a husband and father, it is my duty and sole responsibility to provide safety and security for my family. As a law enforcement officer and your Sheriff, it is my duty and responsibility to provide that same safety and security to our citizens.

My goal, as your Sheriff, is to provide the community with the highest level of professionalism and efficiency within the Sheriff’s Office. Our agency values are built on the foundation of Service, Partnerships, Integrity, Respect, Innovation and Trust defining the true S.P.I.R.I.T. of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. We will always strive to be the capstone of law enforcement and public safety. It is an honor and a privilege to lead YOUR Sheriff’s Office.

Education:  Madison County High School; North Florida Junior College Criminal Justice Academy.

Career:  Madison Police Department; Greenville Police Department; Madison County Sheriff’s Office (Patrol, Traffic, Corporal, Sergeant, Investigator, Lieutenant, Captain, Major, elected Sheriff. Specialized assignments: Canine, Interdiction, Drug Task Force, Internal Affairs, SWAT Team Commander, U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force, Immigration & Customs Title 19 cross designation).

Law Enforcement – Continuing Education: More than 2300 hours of advanced Law Enforcement and Leadership courses; Florida Sheriff’s Association Commanders Academy class 5 alumni; Florida Sheriff’s Association Executive Leadership.
