The Animal Services Division is operated under the direction of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

The men and women of the MCSO Animal Services Division are dedicated/responsible for protecting public health and safety by enforcing local, state, and federal laws and regulations for domesticated animals and their care in the unincorporated areas of the county.

Our Animal Services Officers pick up sick, injured, or stray animals, investigate complaints of abuse or neglect, quarantine animals and adopt them out.

We do not accept animals surrendered by their owners.

We have a bite quarantine time of 10 days.
Our reclaim fees are $25 / $10 PER DAY AFTER

All stray animals are required to be on a 5-day stray hold. After which they will be listed as available for adoption or rescue. All adoptions are done on a first come first serve basis at the Animal Services Division office.
Adoption fees are as follows:

  • Dogs-$50.00
  • Cats- $35.00

The shelter accepts cash or checks only: we do not accept electronic payments. If the animal has not already been altered, you will be required to have the pet spayed/neutered at your veterinary office and provide proof to the shelter within 30 days.
