Patrol

The Uniform Patrol Division of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office consists of 18 Deputy Sheriffs and Supervisors who provide world class law enforcement services to a 716 square mile area. The Deputies are assigned to one of four shifts and patrol all of Madison County.

The mission of the Patrol Deputies are to make Madison County a safer place to live and raise a family through public safety and community service. The Deputies actively patrol Madison County responding to calls for service from citizens, business owners and community partners. Deputies participate in community outreach, crime prevention, traffic enforcement, actively search for suspicious persons and suspicious activity. Deputies are equipped with the tools to conduct preliminary investigations and basic crime scene processing.

Each Deputy is issued a take home marked patrol vehicle with the necessary equipment needed to conduct their job. Each vehicle is outfitted with a Mobile Data Computer (MDC) which enables the Deputies to communicate with other Deputies, the Communications Center.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is committed to providing the Patrol Deputies with progressive and innovative training. Deputies participate monthly in ongoing high liability and law enforcement in service training.

In addition to being the first responders to calls for service you will often see a Patrol Deputy working a community event, a sporting event or assisting the Youth Services Department at a local school. The Deputies work daily to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community.

Traffic

The traffic unit currently consists of 2 deputies that are outfitted with Dodge Challengers for working traffic in all areas of the county to include I-10, local roads and areas that the Sheriff’s Office receives complaints about dangerous driving habits of motorists.
