Jail Information

Detention Facility Division
The Madison County Jail is under the direct authority of the Madison County Sheriff. The Detention Facility operations is under the supervision of the Jail Administrator and the Detention staff. The goal of the Detention staff is to create and maintain a safe, secure, and humane environment for both the staff and inmates.

Booking Process
Upon arrival at the Madison County Jail, each inmate completes property intake, (monies deposited, clothing, and miscellaneous items are inventoried), medical screening, and the booking process.

Individuals that have been arrested and do not bond out of jail, appear before a judge within the first twenty-four (24) hours of arrest. The judge informs each arrested person of his/her charge(s) and the bond ($$) amount. Once bond is established, inmates will be allowed reasonable opportunity to call bondsmen of their choice and/or family members for bond arrangements. The first appearance can take place in the physical presence of the judge, by telephone, or by video.

Inmates that have completed the intake process will be assigned to general population and housed in accordance with their charges.

Visitation Information
Visitation schedules were interrupted due to the Covid-19 pandemic and are subject to change without notice! Please call the Jail @ 850-973-4002 for the most recent visitation schedule. Each visitor must be on the inmate’s approved visitors list and a valid photo I.D. is required for visitation purposes. All visitations are limited to a one (1) hour, scheduled time.

Children under the age of 18 are not permitted to visit and shall not be left in the lobby or vehicle parking lot unattended.

Money for inmates
Cash Only deposits may be deposited into the Jail Lobby ATM machine located @ 823 S.W. Pinckney St. Madison, Fl. 32340. Money Orders made out to the Inmates Name are accepted through the mail. Money can also be added to inmate’s accounts by visiting JAILATM.COM.

Canteen orders go in on Sunday Nights and are normally delivered by mid-week.

Phone Calls
Inmates cannot receive phone calls. Collect calls and/or Inmate-Purchased Calling Card calls can be made from the housing units between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. Inmate phone services are provided by Securus Technologies. You may call them @ 1-800-844-6591 to set up pre-paid calling accounts.

Mail
Inmates may send and receive letters as desired, subject to limitations necessary to maintain order and security. Mail is delivered Monday thru Friday, except on legal holidays. All mail, except Legal mail or other privileged mail is opened and inspected for contraband. Legal and privileged mail will be opened in the presence of the inmate.

Inmates may not receive packages except Legal materials. Express mail requiring receipt will not be accepted.
