PREA ActHow to Report A Sexual Assault While in The Custody of Law Enforcement PREA – Prison Rape Elimination Act The Madison County Sheriff’s Office has a zero-tolerance policy for all forms of sexual abuse and sexual harassment of any inmate. The Agency supports the prosecution of persons who commit acts of sexual misconduct within its facility. The Madison County Detention Facility has developed uniform guidelines and procedures to reduce the risk of in-custody sexual assault and sexual activity. Inmates are encouraged to report all allegations of sexual abuse and/or sexual misconduct immediately. Inmates are afforded several different avenues of reporting. Third Party Reporting (PREA 115.54) The Madison County Jail has established a method to receive third-party reports of sexual abuse and sexual harassment on behalf of an inmate. All reported incidents will be investigated.
