Office Overview

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office provides law enforcement services to the approximately 18,733 people who reside in the 716 square miles that Madison County covers in Northeast Florida. To provide those services, the Sheriff’s Office employs approximately 85 people who serve the county in Law Enforcement, Detention, Communications and Administrative services.

Of the 85 employees at the Sheriff’s Office, roughly 39 people fill the Law Enforcement division protecting the county in a wide range of services which include road patrol deputies, school resource deputies, civil and court service deputies, and special investigation deputies. The road patrol and special investigation units also include a full patrol K-9 unit, narcotics investigators and a fully equipped Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team.

The detention division comprises of nearly 27 employees who provide services inside and outside the Madison County Jail. Those services include detention inside the jail, outside work crews, transportation and administrative positions all of which are designed to provide the highest level of care for security and safety for those being housed inside the county jail.

The communications division consists of 12 employees who are responsible for providing services for all emergency and non-emergency first responder services for the county. This includes 911 and dispatch for Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Madison County Fire and Rescue, City of Madison Police Department, City of Madison Fire Department, and multiple volunteer fire departments throughout the county.

The administrative division consists of 5 employees who are responsible for Finance, Public Records/Warrants, Civil Service, and general administration duties. We also have a Property/Evidence Custodian as well as a Victim’s Advocate.
